"I can't believe Konner took us to Mexico"

It's been awhile, so let me catch ya'll up :) The week before school started the older two girls helped move Uncle Konner in at UTEP....Here are some pics from their Loooooooong drive.

PRADA storefront....literally in the middle of no where!!

Pics from EL Paso and UTEP....Go Miners!

Before Konner left I was kidding and said, " Don't cross over into Mexico...you might get kidnapped" I didn't realize Pearce was listening....while in El Paso they went up on top of this mountain that over looks Juarez...under her breath to Scouty, Pearce says (while shaking her head) "I can't believe Konner took us to Mexico...mama said not to go there"
Taking a break in the locker room....

School has started for Scouty and Pearce...and me! Justin and Jentry are two weeks ahead of us...which he reminds us daily :) Here are some pics from the first day of school!
"The Kissing Hand" and a special letter from her teacher the night before with Pearce...I can't believe she is in school!!
 Breakfast bright and early...

First Day Outfits....even JJ had one :)

 Ready to go!

P and her teacher...Mrs. Gilby! Notice there is no picture of Scout at school...once again she took off...not interested in anyone walking her to class or taking a pic. Below you can see Pearce lost interest real quick...."Dad, I'm good"  Why do they grow up so fast???

Summer Time Fun....

Summer Time is in full swing at our house! Here is what we've been up to....

Scouty: She has become very interested in fishing....actually she would claim that it is her favorite "sport" now....we've been quite a bit to The Avenue pond.  This picture is from the water park we went to on vacation...she was way more daring than I thought she would be....riding EVERY slide that was there...I wouldn't even get on some of them! Next week, she is going to Kid's College at Navarro and looking forward to that!

Pearce: This is my little water baby....well, big girl...she LOVES the water and had so much fun at the beach!! There are very few things that scare this little girl, but we managed to find two of them on vacation....at the same place!  1. The Hurricane water slide....after getting off she says, "I will never ride that again!! That thing about broke my neck! Mom, don't try to make me do it....I'm not riding that again...I mean it!" (FYI - I wasn't going to make her ride it again...I wouldn't have gotten on it!)  2. An old wooden roller coaster...she claims that her arms almost fell off. Like Scouty, she too will be attending Kid's College next week!

JJ: Don't let this picture fool you...she wasn't a huge fan of the beach...she would rather be jumping in the pool...over and over and over again. A wave knocked her over the first night and it was a slow process getting her to trust the ocean....she does think I have super powers though and can stop the waves...I had told her I would get in the ocean with her and somehow she interpreted that as I have powers to stop waves.  She is loving being home with her sisters all day and almost every day you can find her in an old dance costume for a portion of the day.

**Casey and Johno update (first time readers....these are the girls' make believe friends...they are both ALWAYS with us) Yesterday, Casey and Johno graduated fake school....AND both their moms got awards for helping in the classroom! Don't worry though...school is still in session....summer classes started today...actually going on right now...they are having a welcoming ceremony...Pearce is telling the parents "Your kids are so fantastic!"  Jentry has been named the new principal...Ha! Scout is giving a motivational speech - "There are 2,000 schools....2,000 schools! We are 3rd...which is pretty good. 3 out of 2,000! I'm really proud of you all and we can probably do better next year too. Several of you are skipping grades this year....." The rest of the speech pretty much repeated the same thing....LOL!**

I'll end with some pictures from our Gulf Shores vacation...we had a blast!

Time flies when you're having fun.....

I love this time of the year! Our nights are filled with long bike rides, baseball practice, trips to the park, and whatever else we feel like doing....here is a little update of the Burns girls....

JJ....she is growing up too fast!!  Jentry is a talker and she keeps us laughing non stop! Right now she loves jumping on the trampoline, playing dress-up, and of course she still is playing daycare...with Johno and Casey...her all-time favorite thing to do. She can't wait to go to the beach this summer and swim with her cousins!
J also LOVES church and the kids worship time....it warms my heart to hear her repeat things she has learned...like the memory verse or bible truth for the month....I also love watching her during worship time...she sings her little heart out. One of the many things I love about The Avenue is that kids are a top priority and that we have invested in an AWESOME curriculum to teach babies - 5th grade strong bible truths.
I also love the outdoor baptism and our girls do too...Sunday we had baptism and all three sat right in front watching. Last night, while taking a bath I told Jentry to hurry up and get out b/c she was messing around too much. She looked at me and said, "Mama, I'm baptizing not playing!" That girl....

Scouty....in the month of April she earned "Student of the Month"...this was one of her goals this year and she was so excited to accomplish it! She is almost in 2nd grade and I can't believe it! I feel like she was just starting kinder!! She has had a great school year and we feel blessed that she is at a GREAT school! Felty rocks! Scout is playing baseball again and they are in the middle of the season....she keeps getting better every game...Justin does a great job working with both girls to help them improve. She is an awesome big sister and does a great job being a good example for her younger two sisters.
Pearce....I had to use this picture b/c P LOVES taking pictures with dressed up characters...it's one of her favorite things to do....the night of the Jingle Bell Run in Dallas I think she tracked down 6 different characters to take pics with! Total opposite of Scouty :)
Pearce is signed up for Kindergarten! We attended the round-up last week and she was so excited...we are too! Her teachers at Kids University have done an outstanding job preparing her for kinder and beyond. Lately she has been working on her end of the year program...."Hey Guys!! Did you know that the American flag has 7 red stripes?!?"  That is her part....she practices it everyday...her teacher told her classmates they need to say their part like Pearce...."loud and proud"...lol...yep...that's P...loud and proud.
She has also started to read...she does a great job sounding out words and loves it when there is an exclamation point at the end....she calls it an excited mark...lol..

Here are a few more pics of the girls.....

Dino World....

We traveled to Stephenville this weekend to support and cheer on our beloved Mustangs in their first appearance at the Regional Tournament last night....on our way home today I stopped off at Dinosaur World in Glen Rose, Texas to check it out with the girls....Justin had to drive the bus back with the team...While about to pay, a lady came running up to me telling me not to pay yet b/c she had free passes that would get us in...she had bought them on Groupon, and had extra! That was a nice surprise!!

We started with the dinosaur walk....more like a run with the girls...they have a hard time keeping their excitement under control....on this path you can see several life sized dinosaurs hiding along the trail....but DO NOT cross the rope or touch the dinosaurs...and in case you forget there will be multiple signs reminding you....like every 5 steps :) Here are some pictures we took along the way....

Scouty's "favorites"...

Scout had several favorite dinosaurs along the way....Pearce liked the "long-necks" the best, and got pretty mad at Scout when she tried to say it was her "favorite" too....
"I liked them first!!!!!"  - Pearce Burns

JJ LOVED this colorful dinosaur and she got to see every time we went around the corner....because it's a trashcan.
Every time she saw it you would have thought it was the first time...."LOOOOOOK! I like that!" (By the way...that is J's new thing....saying "I like that"....most often she says it when she is around food that she "likes" and wants a bite of)

Having a nice cold drink and relaxing for a minute....what you don't see is the horse size poodle that came by a couple of minutes later....my girls HATE dogs....HATE! We went from this....to Scout pretty much on top of me, JJ pushed up against the wall saying "No No doggie!", and Pearce backed up against the table saying (really loudly) " Mom, I mean, who would bring a dog to a dinosaur place???" she didn't just say it once....multiple times while the people walked by...and all I could do was laugh! It was one of those times that I couldn't quit laughing at the situation long enough to tell her to stop saying it.

After that we finally made it into the gift shop where they picked out these gems....
Dinosaur eggs....they are suppose to hatch something....according to Pearce it will be a "live" pet...so far they still look like the above picture...I think it takes 24 hours for something to happen....which is a bit of a disappointment to Scout....she wanted instant action

Overall, it was fun and broke up the drive the home....
